Mr. Andrew Yan is the Managing Partner of SB
Asia Investment Fund II and Softbank Asia
Infrastructure Fund (SAIF), the US$1.04 billion
growth capital funds that focus on telecom,
media, and technology sectors in Asia Pacific
region. Prior to joining SAIF, Mr. Yan was the
Director for Strategic Planning and Business
Development for the Asia Pacific region at Sprint
International Corporation and a Managing Director
and the Head of the Hong Kong Office for
Emerging Markets Partnership. Mr. Yan previously
was the Chief Engineer at the Jianghuai Airplane
Corp. He also worked at the State Commission
for Economic Restructuring of the State Council
of China, World Bank and the prestigious Hudson
Institute in Washington, D. C.
Mr. Yan holds Bachelor Degree of Engineering of
Nanjing Aeronautic Institute, a Master Degree of
Peking University and a Master Degree in
International Political Economy from Princeton
respectively University. Mr. Yan also studied at
the EMBA program at Wharton School.
Mr. Yan was elected as “Venture Capitalist of the
Year” in 2004 and “Top Ten Venture Investors in
2005” . Under Mr. Yan’ s leadership, AIF’ s
investment in Shanda Interactive Entertainment
(SNDA) has been named “the Investment of the
Year” in 2003 and SAIF was voted as “VC Firm of
the Year” .
Mr. Yan is an independent director of China
National Offshore Oil Service Corporation and
Stone Electrics (both listed at Hong Kong Stock
Exchange); and China Eastcom (listed in Shanghai
Stock Exchange). |
