Mr. Robert E. Grady serves as Managing Partner
for Carlyle’s U.S. venture capital group, Carlyle
Venture Partners ( “CVP” ). In addition, Mr. Grady
coordinates Carlyle’s global venture and growth
capital effort, which has over $3 billion under
management in eight funds. He serves on the
investment committees of CVP, Carlyle Asia
Growth Partners ( “CAGP” ) and Carlyle Europe
Technology Partners ( “CETP” ). He is based in
San Francisco.
Mr. Grady is a former Director of Blackboard
(Nasdaq: “BBBB” ) and currently serves on the
Board of Directors of Carlyle portfolio companies
AuthenTec, Choice Media, Ingenio, Panasas,
Secure Elements, Verari Systems, and USBX. Mr.
Grady is the Chairman of the National Venture
Capital Association (NVCA), which represents
over 400 venture capital firms that account for
90% of the professionally-managed venture
capital in the United States.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Grady was a Managing
Director and member of the Management
Committee at Robertson Stephens, the San
Francisco-based technology investment bank.
Mr. Grady served from 1994 to 2004 on the
faculty of the Stanford Graduate School of
Business, where he taught a course on “Investing in Highly Regulated Industries.”
Mr. Grady served in the White House from
1989-1993, in various post including Deputy
Assistant to President George H. W. Bush and
Chief Speechwriter and Senior Advisory for
Bush/Quayle Presidental Campaign.
Mr. Grady is an honors graduate of Harvard
College and holds an M.B.A. from the Stanford
Graduate School of Business.
Mr. Grady is a Member of the Advisory Council of
the Royal Bank of Canada's Strategic Technology
Fund and of the National Commission on Energy
Policy, a Director of TechNet (The Technology
Network) and of the Asia America Multi-Industry
Association (AAMA), and a Trustee of nvironmental
Defense. |
